About “Kisses for Christmas”
A self-written song off of Emmelie de Forest’s first holiday EP, this song narrates Emmelie’s forlorn experience of being single over the holidays. She co-wrote the music and lyrics together with Jakob Schack Glæsner and describes how she doesn’t want material gifts for the holidays this year; rather, she wants to spend it with someone special.
What do we think?
It’s certainly relatable. Although I’m luckily spending the holidays this year with my incredible partner, I have spent MANY holiday seasons yearning, either for someone specific or to just not be alone, lol. I also have to give Emmelie props for not just covering the same old holiday classics and instead contributing something new.
Emmelie de Forest’s Eurovision Journey
Emmelie de Forest won the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest for Denmark with her song “Only Teardrops”. She performed as an interval act at the 2014 contest and since then has enjoyed a fruitful solo career. Recently, she’s come back onto the Eurovision scene as an interval act, making many guest appearances during the 2025 national final season.
