Norwegian broadcaster NRK has announced the presenters who will lead the Melodi Grand Prix 2026. The trio of Marte Stokstad, Markus Neby and Ronny Brede Aase will present the live final on 28 February 2026.

- Marte Stokstad has long been associated with Eurovision coverage and has also served as a commentator for Norway’s international Eurovision broadcasts.
- Markus Neby has presented various parts of MGP in recent seasons and connects well with a younger demographic.
- Ronny Brede Aase brings a familiar presence back to the MGP stage after previously hosting the show twice.
Ronny Brede Aase says:
“I’m really looking forward to diving into the magical MGP universe again. It’s been a few years since the last time, and despite the fact that there was a voting scandal in 2020 and maximum covid lockdown in 2021, it still stands out as a very nice experience in life. Because this is the country’s largest music competition, which engages and moves. And there are very nice people who work with MGP, so I really want to experience the folk festival in Lillehammer with that group! And it’s really great to work with Markus and Marte.”
Marte is very happy to have Ronny back in MGP:
“Not only is he a happy, warm and reassuring guy to be around! It has also been shown that enthusiastic outbursts in Førde dialect cover up most technical problems that can arise during a live broadcast. – We must never forget that he kept it going for over ten minutes live with the mayor and Abid Raja during the voting chaos in 2020. So here we are in safe hands.”
What is Melodi Grand Prix?
Melodi Grand Prix is the Norwegian method of selection for Eurovision. This national final selection method is over 60 years old. The only year where Melodi Grand Prix has not taken place was 2002, when Norway were relegated from the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodi Grand Prix had undertaken a few different formats. The changes in format have mainly taken place in the last few years, since 2020.
Norway’s Eurovision Journey
The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 62 times, and made the Grand Final 59 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times – in 1985, 1995, and 2009.
Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Kyle Alessandro with the song “Lighter”. After qualifying for the final, Norway placed 18th in the Grand Final, receiving 89 points, 22 of which from the jury and 67 from televoters.
