With preparations for Eurovision 2026 in full swing, host broadcaster ORF has revealed that a production meeting took place in Vienna, for this year’s competition.
27 International Production Suppliers in attendance
As revealed by ORF, the meeting took place in January 14 and 15, where 27 International Production Suppliers, who will be supporting the production of Eurovision 2026 were in attendance. ORF Director General Roland Weißmann welcomed the crowd, which included suppliers of stage design, set design, location management, lighting design, and technical design,
Executive Producer Michael Krön emphasized the collaboration, commenting:
ou are the best of the best. This also means that we will be the best at working together. We want a good working environment, a joyful and constructive collaboration. Therefore, this production meeting should serve as the kick-off for a successful Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Furthermore, we all share the goal of implementing this Song Contest as a truly green event, and we will define a common approach to achieving this
During the two-day meeting, Head of Contest Marvin Dietmann provided an overview of timeline for the 35 participating delegation, with Florian Wieder, who designed the stage presented the stage design in detail, with Tim Routledge explaining the light concept. The production suppliers also had a chance to visit Wiener Stdhalle in order to familiarise themselves with the venue.
The Journey to Eurovision 2026
The journey to the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following JJ’s win in Basel, when Austria’s ORF accepted the rights to host the 70th edition of the contest. The bidding process started in June, with interested cities having until July 4 to submit their bid book. Innsbruck and Vienna were shortlisted, with the latter winning the right to host next year’s contest.
As for the organisation of the competition, the ‘core team‘ was revealed in June 2025, with further details about next year’s competition to be revealed in due course. The shows will take place on May 12th, 14th and 16th.
