Supernova 2026 is about to kick in on January 31st with the 1st Semi final and Tetiana spoke to one of the competitors. Meet Honey Blue, the band with unique modern and nostalgic indie sound from Riga! This year they are aiming to go to Vienna with their song “Blue disco”.

In this interview Tetiana and Honey Blue talk about the meaning behind their song, “Blue disco”, their connection to Daba and their eye-grabbing styling choices as well as the sources for their inspiration for their visuals. In the conversation Karīna Aurora Paņina recaps their first ever mini-tour outside Latvia and the adventures, new experiences and connections it brought.
In their story, Blue Disco is not melancholic or gloomy. It is, in fact, a party under the spotlights and strobes, their special celebration in a concert-blue funk.
Who are Honey Blue?
Santa Paula Mata (vocals), Antons Kulagins (guitar), Karīna Aurora Paņina (bass), Andrejs Ļevskojs (drums), and Dominiks Levuškāns (trumpet). Together they are Honey Blue, a band from Riga formed in in 2022 (debuted in 2024) with their unique indie sound with touches of R’n’B, jazz, soul that fuse with many other elements and bring the nostalgic sound in modern interpretation. Their song song for Supernova 2026, “Blue disco”, was written by themselves.
Latvia’s Eurovision journey
Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.
Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Tautumeitas, who performed “Bur man laimi”. Latvia successfully qualified from the second semi-final for the second year in a row. In the Grand Final, Tautumeitas finished in 13th place with 158 points. Of these points, 42 were from the public vote, and 116 were from the national juries.
