Ahead of their participation in the Melodifestivalen Final of 2026, Sweden’s selection for Eurovision 2026, Tim had the opportunity to speak with A*Teens, who is participating for the first time with their entry “Iconic”.

During their interview, Tim and A*Teens talked about their return to the music scene, how it feels to take part in Melodifestivalen, and what we can expect from the group in the future.
Who are A*Teens?
A*Teens are a pop group from Sweden originally formed in 1998 as an ABBA tribute band. The 4 members of the group are Marie Serneholt, Dhani Lennevald, Sara Lumholdt, Amit Sebastian Paul. Their debut single “Mamma Mia” reached the top of the swedish charts and also managed to chart in other countries across Europe.
The Group released 3 full albums, 1 EP and a greatest hits compilation before they split in 2004. After A*Teens ended, Marie participated in Melodifestivalen as a solo artist in 2009 and 2012 and co-hosted the final in 2011, while Sara participated in Melodifestivalen in 2011.
The group made their first appearance together in 10 years at Melodifestivalen 2024 as an interval act, and in late 2025 it was confirmed that A*Teens would make their Mello debut as a group in 2026 with the song “Iconic”
Sweden’s Eurovision journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
