Despite failing to qualify for the final this year, Luxembourg’s has confirmed their participation at Eurovision 2027.

A good opportunity to increase visibility

The Prime Minister and Minister of Media of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, confirmed to the Chamber of Deputies yesterday afternoon (May 21) that Luxembourg intends to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest for the foreseeable future.

He explained that the contest is a good opportunity to increase the visibility of Luxembourg as a country and would allow the local music industry to present itself abroad.

“So we have to make sure that it really is a boost for Luxembourgish singers. The collaboration with RTL and the Rockhal is excellent and that’s why I intend to propose to the government that we do the same next year. And then the organizational and artistic issues need to be clarified in that group, including the financial ones, but I think a solution can be found.”

Frieden also stated that negotiations were underway regarding the organisation of the Luxembourg Song Contest, Luxembourg’s national selection for Eurovision.

Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey

Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michรจle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.

Luxembourg’s latest participation came in Vienna in 2026. Eva Marija represented Luxembourg with the song “Mother Nature”. She participated in the second semi-final but failed to qualify for the final.
