As the Junior Eurovision 2026 contest begins to take shape, countries continue to confirm whether they will be taking part in the contest in Malta. The latest to confirm participation at this year’s event is Italian broadcaster Rai.
Italy will take part in Junior Eurovision 2026
Italy confirmed their participation at this year’s event in a press release about Rai Kids’ upcoming schedule. Rai also confirmed that they will announce their representative for this year’s edition in due course. This brings the total number of countries having confirmed their Junior Eurovision 2026 participation to 10, you can see the rest of the list below

- 🇵🇹 Portugal – Salvador Rio
Italy’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Italy made its Junior Eurovision debut in 2014 with Vincenzo Cantiello and the song “Tu primo grande amore”. The performance scored 159 points on its way to a victory. Since winning, Italy’s best result is a 3rd place in the 2016 contest. Italy has so far participated eight times in the contest.
Italy’s most recent participation was in 2025. Leonardo Giovannangeli’s “Rockstar” finished 12th after receiving 73 points with 26 points coming from the international juries and 47 points from the online voters.
