Mae Muller, the UK’s 2023 Eurovision participant, has released a new single. “Wheels Come Off” is the second single Mae has released so far this year.
About “Wheels Come Off”
“Wheels Come Off” is the latest single from singer and songwriter Mae Muller. The new track, like much of Mae’s back catalog, blends Y2K inspired dance-pop with witty lyricism and social commentary. The song is high energy, and the promo videos that have been released so far only add to this vibe.
The song feels inspired by the 00s sound of British girl-pop, but with a modern twist. There’s some elements of early Lily Allen and British girl groups like Sugarbabes and Mis-Teeq, as well as more modern influences like Charli-xcx, SOPHIE and the London club music scene.
This is Mae’s second single of 2026, following the release of “Tell You That” back in April. The premiere of the song came on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop show with Jodie Bryant on Wednesday evening, before being officially released at midnight.
Mae collaborated with a number of different musicians, composers and producers for this track, including Michael Keefe and Ben Dunkerley. The track also credits Wolf Cutt and Camilla Dunhill, who both worked on Luke Black’s PARASITE album earlier in 2026. “Wheels Come Off” is Mae’s second release on independent London based label, Tenace Records.

Mae Muller’s Eurovision history
Mae Muller’s Eurovision journey was one marked by high expectations and valuable lessons. Representing the United Kingdom on home soil in 2023 with her infectious pop track “I Wrote a Song”, Mae followed in the footsteps of Sam Ryderโs second-place triumph, entering the contest with considerable buzz and national hope. Her performance combined a strong visual identity with catchy lyrics centred on self-empowerment and emotional recovery after heartbreak.
Despite finishing 25th in the Grand Final in Liverpool, Mae handled the result with grace and resilience, using the experience as both a personal and professional turning point. Rather than letting the outcome define her, she embraced it as part of her artistic evolution, a stepping stone toward a more authentic, independent sound. Mae has since released a debut album, “Sorry I’m Late” and last year released a new EP, “My Island“. She has made regular appearances at many festivals and gigs across the UK since her 2023 Eurovision performance, and continues to have a large following on social media.
