After stepping into the spotlight at Eurovision 2023 with I Wrote a Song, Mae Muller returns with a brand new EP titled My Island, released on July 18. This five-track project marks a new chapter : her first as an independent artist.
About “My Island”
Mae Muller delivers a bold, introspective EP that marks both a fresh start and a continuation of her unapologetic pop era. While Eurovision gave the British singer a global stage (and a thick skin), My Island is her moment to reclaim the narrative on her own terms, blending vulnerability, attitude, and growth into five tracks that feel like pages torn from her diary, set to catchy, confident beats.
There are a few themes of this EP, I think the main one is vulnerability, but also the power in that. Another is honesty, losing yourself, then finding yourself again. And also just wanting to party and have a good fucking time! All the themes that have spanned over my life the past 2 years, they’re there. – Mae Muller
If you’re diving into My Island for the first time, make sure not to skip Hello Kitty. Bold, cheeky, and irresistibly addictive, the track stands out as a tongue-in-cheek anthem that mixes playful empowerment with a punchy beat. With its sassy lyrics and unapologetic energy, Hello Kitty feels like Mae fully reclaiming her narrative post-Eurovision : confident, carefree, and in complete control. It’s the kind of track that dares you not to dance, wink, or smirk along.

Mae Muller’s Eurovision journey
Mae Muller’s Eurovision journey was one marked by high expectations and valuable lessons. Representing the United Kingdom in 2023 with her infectious pop track I Wrote a Song, Mae followed in the footsteps of Sam Ryder’s second-place triumph, entering the contest with considerable buzz and national hope. Her performance combined a strong visual identity with catchy lyrics centered on self-empowerment and emotional recovery after heartbreak.
Despite finishing 25th in the Grand Final, Mae handled the result with grace and resilience, using the experience as both a personal and professional turning point. Rather than letting the outcome define her, she embraced it as part of her artistic evolution, a stepping stone toward a more authentic, independent sound, now fully reflected in her latest EP My Island.
