Pop icons Bachelor Girl, one of Australia’s most loved musical duos, are re-releasing their debut album with some surprising Eurovision features. “Waiting for the Day (Artist Sessions)” sees the pair reimagine songs from their debut album, with features from Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian, among others with a Eurovision connection.
“Waiting for the Day (Artist Sessions)” an Australian eurofan’s dream?
Australian dance-pop duo Bachelor Girl have had a long and successful career in Australia and New Zealand, as well as chart hits in the UK, Finland and Sweden. Lead singer of the duo Tania Doko even found time to take part in the 2019 edition of the Australia Decides national final with her song “Piece of Me”.
The latest release from the pair sees them collaborate with some of Australia’s biggest names, to reimagine their debut album “Waiting for the Day”.
Australian Eurovision icons
Australia’s 2026 Eurovision participant Delta Goodrem placed 4th at the Contest in Vienna with her song “Eclipse”. The singer is due to be releasing her next album later this year, with a European tour announced for February and March of 2027. The Aussie superstar features on the track “Buses and Trains – Sunday Session”.
Australia’s debut performer at Eurovision Guy Sebastian placed 5th at the Song Contest in Vienna, in 2015. The “Tonight Again” singer has found worldwide fame in recent years, including three #1 singles in Australia. Guy features alongside Bachelor Girl on the song “Permission to Shine”.
Jessica Mauboy became a eurofan favourite with her song “We Got Love” during the 2018 Contest in Lisbon. Although ultimately only finishing 20th in the Grand Final, Mauboy has found success across the globe since her Eurovision run. The Aussie singer joins Bachelor Girl for a new version of “Treat Me Good”.
Australia Decides 2019 reunion
The “Artists Sessions” version of Bachelor Girl’s debut album also features other artists with connections to the Eurovision Song Contest. Including lead singer of the duo Tania Doko, 4 of Australia’s national final entrants appear on the record. Tania entered the national final with her song “Piece Of Me”, ultimately coming eight in the final.
The band Sheppard also appeared in the 2019 national final with the song “On My Way”, finishing in third place. They feature on “My World”. Singer-songwriter Ella Hooper also took part in the 2019 national final with her song “Data Dust”, and appears on the new version of “Blown Away”.
Drag queen musician Courtney Act entered Australia Decides 2019 with the track “Fight For Love”, ultimately finishing in fourth place. Courtney has recently served as one of the commentators for the Australian broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest. She features on the “Lucky Me”.
Further Eurovision connections
Another collaboration found on the new Bachelor Girl project is Michael Paynter, who is part of the songwriting duo MSQUARED. Paynter has songwriting and production credits on multiple Australian national final songs, as well as writing “Champion” and “We Will Rise” for Australia in the Junior Eurovision in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Paynter also co-wrote “Where I Am” for Anja Nissen, who performed for Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, in 2017.
Darren Hayes of Savage Garden fame also features on the record. Aside from topping charts in Australia with Savage Garden, Hayes served as a jury member for the 2022 edition of the Australia Decides national final in 2022.

All in all, the “Waiting for the Day (Artist Sessions)” release from Bachelor Girl serves as not only a celebration of the duo’s debut album, but as a compilation of Eurovision icons.
Australia’s Eurovision journey
Australia is the most recent country to debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, appearing for the first time at the 60th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna, in 2015. Since their debut, they have participated every single year of the competition.
Australia internally selected Delta Goodrem to represent them in 2026 with the song “Eclipse”. She would qualify for the final and ultimately finished in 4th place, Australia’s second-best result at the contest behind Dami Im in 2016. At the close of voting, Australia were given 287 points, 165 coming from the jury, with the remaining 122 points coming from the televote.
