🇧🇬 Burgas to host Eurovision 2027

Bulgarian broadcaster BNT, in conjunction with the EBU, has announced that Burgas will host the 71st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027. This will be the first time the city will host the contest.

In addition to the reveal of the host city, it was also revealed that Arena Burgas will be the venue for next year’s competition, as well as the official dates for your calendars, which are as follows:

• Semi-Final One: Tuesday 11thth May
• Semi-Final Two: Thursday 13th May
• Grand Final: Saturday 15th May

Speaking about the selection of Burgas, Eurovision Director Martin Green comments:

Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity, and it has the ambition, infrastructure and passion needed to welcome the Eurovision family.

For the first Eurovision Song Contest ever to be held in Bulgaria, we want to create something that feels truly Bulgarian while also being unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music.

Together with BNT, the City of Burgas and our partners across Bulgaria, we are looking forward to creating an unforgettable Eurovision week in May and welcoming the world to Burgas

The story of Eurovision 2027 so far

The journey to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following DARA’s win in Vienna, when Bulgaria’s BNT accepted the rights to host the 71st edition of the contest. Four cities have submitted a bid to host Eurovision 2027, and they are Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna. Burgas and Sofia were shortlisted, with Burgas winning the right to host the 71st edition of the competition.

As for the organisation of the competition, the Bulgarian government stepped in to create an organising committee, which was revealed at the end of May 2026, with further details about next year’s competition to be revealed in due course.
