Lithuania has confirmed their intention to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, due to be held in Bulgaria. The Lithuanian broadcaster LRT announced they will attend the contest in May.
LRT confirms participation
Speaking to ESC Today, a representative for LRT, Lithuania’s broadcaster, confirmed that Lithuania will be competing at the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas.
No specific information has yet been given, but it is expected that a national final will once again be used to determine its representative. In recent years, Lithuania’s national selection has been Eurovizija.LT, which has given the nation three qualifications in a row. Further information on the country’s selection method will be released in due course.
Lithuania’s Eurovision journey
The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 22 times and made the Grand Final 15 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.
Lithuania has used a national final to select its Eurovision representative for all of its entries bar its debut in 1994. The national final itself has undergone frequent name changes and small format changes. From 2020 to 2023, the country used “Pabandom iš naujo!” (translation – We try again!) as its national final. More recently, Eurovizija.LT has been the name of the national final.
In 2026, Lion Ceccah competed and won Eurovizija.LT after coming second in the national selection in the previous year. Lion Ceccah represented Lithuania, participating with the song “Sólo quiero más”. Performing in the first semi-final, Lion Ceccah qualified for the final in eighth place. In the Grand Final, Lithuania finished in 22nd place overall, with 22 points – 10 points came from the juries, with another 12 points from the televote.
