🇸🇪 Dolly Style release new single “Candy Shoppin'”

Sweden’s bubblegum cowgirls Dolly Style are back with new music! The Melodifestivalen veterans and pastel-pop girl group have released new single “Candy Shoppin'”.

About “Candy Shoppin'”

The song is, like much of their music, an upbeat, fun, tongue-in-cheek, dance-pop track. The lyrics of “Candy Shoppin'” contain references to a variety of different candy. Jelly beans, lollipops and cherry drops all feature, and the song itself is a musical sugar rush. The chorus is fun, light hearted and instantly an ear worm. The “rum pup-pa, rum pup-pa ray!” chorus will immediately get stuck in your head after first listen! This is sickly sweet, bubblegum pop at its core.

“Candy Shoppin'” is released alongside a Karaoke version of the song. The track was written by Kristofer Strandberg, Andreas Werling and Vilma Davidsson. It is the latest Dolly Style record to be released on the Universal Music Group label.

Dolly Style are currently on a Sweden wide tour, with gigs throughout August and September in the country. Upcoming tour dates can be found on their website here.

Who are Dolly Style?

Dolly Style is a Swedish pop girl group known for their colourful, pastel aesthetic and bubblegum pop sound. The group currently features four characters, Molly, Holly, Polly and Yolly, each represented by a different colour. Inspired by Japanese kawaii culture, they combine playful visuals with catchy dance-pop songs. The girls claim that they originate from a dollhouse from the fictional land of Dollyville, “a magical place beyond the rainbow”.

The band have had a number of lineup changes in recent years, performing as both a three piece, and four piece outfit in the past. The lineup for this current release includes Vilma Davidsson, Mikaela Samuelsson, Caroline Aronsson and Annie Moreau. The band have recently announced the upcoming departure of Annie Moreau as Molly, and at current it is unclear if, and by whom, Molly will be recast.

Dolly Style’s Melodifestivalen history

Dolly Style have participated in Melodifestivalen several times. The group debuted in the 2015 edition of Sweden’s biggest song contest with the song “Hello Hi”. The girls made it to the second chance round, but failed to make it to the final. They returned in 2016 with the track “Rollercoaster”, where they once again made the second chance round, but failed to qualify to the final. After a small shake-up in lineup, Dolly Style returned to Melodifestivalen with the song “Habibi” in 2019. The song failed to make it out of the third heat of Mello that year, but went on to have a life of its own after the national final. The song is regularly played in the Melodifestivalen arena before the live broadcast begins to this day, with fans performing the choreography in unison.

In 2025, Dolly Style made a return to Melodifestivalen with the track “Yihaa”. They once again made it to the second chance round of the Mello Contest, but for the first time in the group’s history, they progressed to the final. Amongst others, the track was co-written by regular Melodifestivalen contributors Patrik Jean and Melanie Wehbe. “Yihaa” would eventually come 5th place in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2025, scoring 75 points.
