Czechia’s Eurovision 2024 star Aiko is back with a new single. “A Class Angel” is the second single from the “Pedestal” singer so far this year.
About “A Class Angel”
Aiko has released her latest single “A Class Angel”. The song is the second single from the Czech singer so far this year, following the release of “WHY NOT BBY” earlier in 2026. “A Class Angel” has a dark, dramatic pop energy to it. There’s elements of indie electronica and pop-disco to the song, with Aiko’s recognisable alternative edge also present.
The song differs from her Eurovision entry, in that the vocal is lighter and more etherial, but the energy has similarities. The instrumental is uptempo, catchy disco-pop with a dark, alternative edge that creates a slightly unsettling vibe. It is an exciting, intriguing song, that fits Aiko’s voice amazingly.
The new single is written by Aiko herself with Steven Graham Ansell, who also worked on her recent “WHY NOT BBY” release. The record is released on the singer’s independent AIKO MUSIC label.

Who is Aiko?
Aiko is the stage name of Alena Shirmanova-Kostebelova. The singer moved to Czechia with her family at the age of 5. Her stage name originates from a combination of her love for Japanese culture, and her childhood nickname ‘Ajka’. In 2015, Aiko participated in the fourth season of the competition tv show Česko Slovenská SuperStar.
The singer moved to the United Kingdom in early adulthood to pursue a musical career. She first lived in London, before settling in Brighton. As Aiko, she released her debut self-titled album in 2018, which has since disappeared from streaming platforms. Aiko followed this up with the release of “Expiration Date” in 2020. Aiko released her third album “Fortune’s Child” in autumn 2023. The singer came out as bisexual following her appearance in Eurovision 2024, and is currently in a relationship with Kat Almagro, who also participated in the Contest in 2024. Kat is the drummer of Spanish band Megara, who participated for San Marino in Malmö. After the 2024 Contest, Aiko released her fourth full length album, “AIKONIC”, which features her Eurovision entry as the closing track.
AIKO’s Eurovision history
Aiko entered the Czech national final for Eurovision 2024 ESCZ, with her song “Pedestal”. Here, she won the public vote with almost double the amount of votes awarded to the second place artist Elly in the competition. After winning ECSZ, Aiko was awarded the right to represent Czechia at the 2024 Contest in Malmö.
The Czech singer performed in the second Semi-Final in the Contest, where she narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Grand Final. “Pedestal” was awarded 38 points by the voting public in the Semi-Final, placing Aiko 11th out of 16 acts, and just 6 points away from qualification. After her performance in Malmö, Aiko collaborated with Austria’s 2023 representative, and long time friend Teya, on “Hunger”. In 2025, Together with her Spanish girlfriend Kat, Aiko submitted a song to the Spanish selection for Eurovision, Benidorm Fest. The song, titled “Mi Amor”, was ultimately not selected for the competition. Aiko released the English language version of “Mi Amor” as a solo artist in April 2025.
