Canadian national broadcaster CBC / Radio-Canada has outlined the first steps that the country will take to make its Eurovision debut. From August 31st, interested artists will be able to submit their songs in an open submissions window that will last for over a week.
The registration portal is officialy open
In a post uploaded to the official CBC / Radio-Canada Instagram account, the Canadian broadcaster announced that, starting today, artists can register their interest in representing the country in Burgas using the registration portal. The portal will close on Wednesday, September 9th.
On the official link to the submissions platform, CBC/Radio-Canada said:
We are looking for an artist who dreams of competing on the Eurovision Song Contest stage. This must be a passion project fuelled by a desire to fully embrace the Contest’s spirit.
However, it has been reported that a fully televised national selection will not be taking place. According to The Euro Trip podcast, CBC/Radio-Canada will draw up a shortlist after the submissions window closes, with the finalists being announced by the end of November. This will then be put to a vote online, with “input from a music industry jury” to help decide the winner. No specific details or roadmap has been revealed by the broadcaster as to when the decision will be made.
