🇵🇹 NAPA release new album “Semitrópico”

Portuguese Eurovision participants and viral sensations NAPA are back with new music. The Madeira based “Deslocado” singers have this week released new album, “Semitrópico”.

About “Semitrópico”

NAPA, who represented Portugal in the 2025 Song Contest in Basel with the viral smash hit “Deslocado”, have released their latest album “Semitrópico”. The album soundtracks a “sunny, carefree side, typical of a perfect day in paradise” according to the group. Much of the music on the album has similarities to “Deslocado”, and builds on the track’s success in a fresh, blissful way. The album mainly features an indie-pop sound, with elements of jazz, funk, soul and RnB influences.

The third album from NAPA contains recently released singles “Coisas Simples” and “Sortudo”, as well as their 2025 Eurovision hit “Deslocado”, and a number of new tracks. The group describe the album and the timing of its release on social media:

It was created between Lisbon, Madeira and Brazil, with Lucas Nunes and André Santos on production, and with Madeira as home and backdrop for everything you will see and hear. Winds calm down and waves hit lighter as the sun says goodbye to another day. So comes Semitrópico, with the quiet of a beach end and the coolness of the Atlantic.

NAPA are on tour throughout the end of 2026, with shows in England, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and many other European countries. For tour dates and ticket information, check the group’s website and social media. The group have also recently been revealed as one of the performing artists to take part in the 2027 Barcelona based festival Primavera Sound.

Who are NAPA?

The five-piece indie-pop group NAPA hail from the island of Madeira. The band consists of members Francisco Sousa, João Rodrigues, João Guilherme Gomes, João Lourenço Gomes, and Diogo Góis. NAPA were originally named Men on the Couch, and made most of their early music in the English language. In 2019, they released their first album, Senso comum, a projected crowd-funded without support from publishers or a music label. In 2023, the band followed-up with their second album, Logo se vê. It was then that the group changed their name to NAPA, after a fabric commonly used to cover couches. The name change was suggested by their producer, who reportedly happened to be sitting on one at the time. Following the name change the group began focussing more on creating music in the Portuguese language.
