Mongolian broadcaster CNBC has had to replace its entry “Light” for the Eurovision Asia Song Contest with “Chamguigeer (Without You)” because of a rule violation.
Mongolia’s new Eurovision Asia song
In the national selection “Mongolia’s Chosen One”, the song “Light” was selected to be performed by Beck in Bangkok. However, it was recently announced that the entry was no longer eligible to compete and that “Chamguigeer (Without You)” would represent the country instead. The organizers of the contest have stated the following regarding the disqualification of “Light”:
Since the broadcast of Mongolia’s Chosen One, it has been discovered that the winning song, Light, is unfortunately not eligible to compete in Eurovision Song Contest Asia. In order for a song to be eligible to take part at Bangkok 2026, it must not have been commercially promoted or performed to the general public before 01 July 2026. As Light does not meet this criterion, the song will no longer be able to represent Mongolia at Eurovision Asia in November.
