After finishing 12th in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 the quintet Bandidos do Cante is back. This time they are collaborating with an additional female voice. Their new song “Fora da Lei” ft. Carolina de Deus is a homage to their own band identity.
About “Fora da Lei”
Although the band name translates to “The Bandits of Cante” they have never considered themselves to be actual criminals. The singers define themselves to be more like mischievous outsiders who are taking something traditional and doing it their own way. Even in interviews they explained that the name “Bandidos” came from a place of playfulness and having fun on stage. According to musicfest.pt they want to make music that comes from an honest place, despite some criticism for changing the traditional cante genre.
A new sixth member?
For their first post-Eurovision song the group has decided to get Carolina de Deus on board as a feature on the song, however she is no stranger to Festival da Canção. Even though she hasn’t been selected to compete in the national final, Carlina tried to represent Portugal through the national final twice.

Bandidos do Cante at the Eurovision Song Contest
After winning Festival da Canção 2026 with the song “Rosa” the band went to Vienna to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Unfortunately the band failed to qualify for the Grand Final, scoring 74 points and finishing in twelfth place. This was Portugal’s first time missing out on the final since 2019, with 35 points coming from the televote and 39 coming from juries. The new song “Fora da Lei” with Carolina de Deus is the first single after their Eurovision journey.
