🇪🇸 Melody releases new single “El Huracán”

Singer, actress, model, songwriter, dancer, and all-round superstar, Melody, is back with a new single. The Eurovision 2025 representative from Spain releases new single “El Huracán” this week.

About “El Huracán”

Spain’s Eurovision 2025 representative Melody is back with her latest single. “El Huraćan” is the most recent single to come from Melody’s new era, with an upcoming seventh album on the way. The song explores themes of freedom and resilience, with lyrics about shattering emotional chains, overcoming anxiety and moving forward through the chaos without looking back.

Musically, “El Huracán” is energetic, dramatic and intense. The song opens with dynamic electro beats before Melody’s piercing, arresting vocals begin. The choruses of the track are big, anthemic sounding moments, with the verses building and rising as the song progresses. Melody describes the meaning of the song on her social media:

They say that with the cold everything calms down. It’s the opposite for me. 🌪
That’s where “El Huracán” comes from. Strength, rage, desire, and a little bit of madness, all at once.

The new single from Melody was co-written by the singer herself, alongside Antonio Sánchez Ohlsson. Pablo Rouss and SLATIN provide producing, mixing and engineering on the track. Melody is on tour throughout the rest of 2026 with many shows across Spain. For dates and ticket information, visit her website.

Who is Melody?

Better known by her one word moniker Melody, Melodía Ruiz Gutiérrez was born in Spain in 1990. The Spanish singer, model, dancer and actress first rose to fame at the age of 10, with the release of her song “El baile del gorila”, which became one of the biggest summer hits of 2001 in Spain. So far in her career, Melody has released six albums and numerous successful singles in the Spanish and Latin American music markets.

Melody’s Eurovision journey

Melody first had a taste of Eurovision preselections back in 2009. Melody and the flamenco band Los Vivancos entered the Spanish national selection ahead of the 2009 Contest in Moscow, with the song “Amante de la luna”. After Los Vivancos’ withdrawal from the selection ahead of the final, Melody performed solo. At the close of voting in the 2009 selection, Melody was tied for first spot with Soraya and the song “La noche es para mí”. As scoring higher in the televote, Soraya was declared the winner of the 2009 selection.

Ahead of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Melody was announced as one of the participants of Spain’s national selection show Benidorm Fest, with the song “Esa Diva”. Melody qualified to the Benidorm Fest 2025 final with “Esa Diva”, eventually winning the televote and placing third with the juries and earning the right to represent Spain in the Basel Eurovision Contest.

As a member of the ‘Big Five’, Spain qualified directly to the 2025 Grand Final. Melody performed “Esa Diva” in the first of the 2025 Semi-Finals as an automatic qualifier, and was placed sixth in the Grand Final running order. At the close of voting in Basel, “Esa Diva” would come 24th out of 26 acts. Melody received 37 points, of which 27 came from the international juries, and 10 were awarded by the public televote.
