🇸🇪 Oscar Zia releases new EP “tutto passa”

As Melodifestivalen 2027 begins to get closer, one of the co-hosts of this year’s national final has found time to release new music! Oscar Zia, who has himself entered the Swedish show in the past, is back this week with new EP “tutto passa”. The project comes after the release of Oscar’s “offerkofta” single earlier this month.

About “tutto passa”

Oscar Zia, who is due to co-host the 2027 Melodifestivalen shows, has released his new EP “tutto passa”. The singer, actor and former Melfest contestant follows up on the release of “offerkofta” and “kompispris” earlier in the month. The tracks on the new EP explore themes of doubt, longing, and the patterns that make it difficult to let someone get close to you in a relationship.

The title of the EP, “tutto passa”, comes from the Italian phrase, meaning “everything passes”. According to Oscar, this expression stayed with him throughout the process of working on the new songs. The importance of the phrase serves as a reminder that what causes pain does not last forever, says Oscar, but also that the beautiful things in life are sometimes more fragile than one might wish.

Speaking about the new music, Oscar said:

“tutto passa” is largely about having the courage to acknowledge your feelings—both to yourself, and to someone else. For a long time, I’ve found it difficult to identify what I’m actually feeling while I’m in the thick of it. It’s only in hindsight that things become clear—both what a relationship has meant to me and my own role within it. These songs have prompted me to reflect deeply on who I am when it comes to love, what I’m afraid of, and how honest I dare to be about what I’m truly feeling.

Oscar will be playing three “tutto passa” live shows in Spring, with dates in Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg the same week as Eurovision 2027. For tickets and information, check out Oscar’s live dates website. The Swedish star is due to host Love Island Sweden this autumn, ahead of his role as Melodifestivalen 2027 co-host. The singer and actor also currently appears in the popular SVT series Boyfriends, where viewers get to see a closer side of Oscar and his relationships. Similar themes of openness and relationships feature in the new music, with Oscar putting into words many of the feelings and situations that take place in the series. In the series’ last episode, the connection between the two worlds becomes “extra clear”.

Who is Oscar Zia?

Oscar Zia is a 29-year old Swedish singer, songwriter, and actor. In 2012, he first came to prominence in Sweden after coming eighth in the Swedish version of X Factor. Following X Factor, Zia signed a record deal with Warner Music, and in 2014, he released his debut album I Don’t Know How to Dance, which peaked at number three in the Swedish charts. Oscar finished as the runner-up on the eighth season of Let’s Dance in 2014. In November 2018, the singer released his second album, “Din”.

Oscar’s Melodifestivalen journey

Oscar has taken part in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen as both a host, and a contestant in previous editions. Making his debut back in 2013, Zia first took part as a backing vocalist for Behrang Miri and the song “Jalla Dansa Sawa”. The singer and actor made his solo debut the following year with the entry “Yes We Can”, reaching 8th in the 2014 Melfest Final. In 2016, Oscar came second in the contest overall, with his song “Human”, narrowly missing out on a win.

He returned to the Mello stage as a co-host of 2021’s Heat 2, alongside Christer Björkman and Anis Don Demina. For the 2022 edition of Mello, Oscar was revealed as host ahead of the competition, with Farah Abadi joining him as co-host in the Final. Oscar will once again take on hosting duties in the 2027 national final, alongside Swedish actor Björn Kjellman. The duo were revealed as Mello 2027 hosts earlier in the year.
