The Belgian Wallonia broadcaster RTBF has a habit of choosing alumni from The Voice Belgique to represent them at Eurovision. Latest winner Jérémie Makiese has stated a wish to compete in the contest in 2022. He may be in luck as RTBF have used The Voice to internally select their artist since 2013.
Could it be Jérémie Makiese in 2022?
Following his win on The Voice back in April, Jérémie Makiese has told Belgian site La Meuse he would like to go to Eurovision next year and has described the opportunity as a ‘honour‘ should he get the chance to go and represent his country. Belgium have had quite a lot of success from The Voice Belgique alumni in recent years. Blanche in 2017 and Loic Notett in 2015 both finished 4th in the contest in their respective years.
At present Belgium rotate broadcasters every year between the Wallonian broadcaster RTBF and the Flemish broadcaster VRT. This year it is the turn of RTBF to select the participant for Eurovision 2022. This means that there is a chance Jérémie will get his wish to be on the Eurovision stage.
A look into Jérémie Makiese’s career so far!
Jérémie is a relative newcomer to the music scene having recently won the ninth season of The Voice Belgique. Prior to winning the show, Jérémie was a geology student, something quite far away from the music industry. It appears all though he is just starting out he has big ambitions and also has bags of talent. You can watch his rendition of Labrinth’s jealous here:
