As time progresses, more and more countries reveal if whether or not they will be participating in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Another country that would not be present for this year’s competition is Romania; which confirmed to Eurofestivales that they will not be participating in this year’s competition.
TVR has not given any reason, as to why they will not be participating in this year’s competition. Romania’s non-participation will see them miss the competition for the 12th year in a row. Romania has not participated since 2009 when the contest took place in Kyiv.
What we currently know about the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
After winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, it wasn’t long until it was revealed that the winning host nation; France, will be hosting the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In May 2021, it was revealed that Paris will be hosting this year’s competition in La Seine Musicale on December 19.

- Germany
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Russia
- Ukraine
Romania’s Junior Eurovision Journey
As one of the countries to be in the inaugural competition, Romania debuted in the competition in 2003, with Bubu and the song “Tobele sunt viaศa mea”, which placed 10th. Since their debut, Romania has participated seven times, and even hosted the competition in Bucharest back in 2006. Their latest Junior Eurovision attempt was in 2009 where Ioana Bianca Anuศa participated with “Ai puterea รฎn mรขna ta”, which placed 13th.
