🇦🇱 Albania to use Junior Fest to select its Junior Eurovision 2021 representative

After taking a year off from the competition, Albania will be making its return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Since the announcement that they are among the 19 countries participating this year, Albania has been silent on their participation, until now. RTSH has revealed that Junior Fest will be used to select its representative for Paris. The announcement was made on social media.

Submissions to close on October 15

With the announcement that they will be using Junior Fest to select its 7th Junior Eurovision representative, RTSH also invited composers and singers to participate, with the following criteria and send in the following.

  • Final version of the Junior Eurovision entry.
  • Full lyrics of the song
  • Name of the Artist, Composer and Lyricst.
  • The submitted entry should be no longer than 3 minutes but not shorter than 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
  • The partciipants must be from 9 to 14 years old.

The submission period is currently open and will close on October 15. At the time of writing, it is yet to be revealed the format and the date of this year’s Junior Fest.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021

Junior Eurovision 2021 will take place in Paris, France following Valentina’s victory in JESC 2020 with “J’imagine”. The contest will be held in La Seine Musicale on December 19th. 19 countries will be competing in the 19th edition of the competition:

  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Bulgaria
  • France (Host)
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Kazakhstan
  • Malta
  • The Netherlands
  • North Macedonia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Serbia
  • Spain
  • Ukraine

Albania’s Junior Eurovision Journey

Albania made its debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 20212, where Igzidora Gjeta represented the nation with “Kam një këngë vetëm për ju” which placed 12th. Since then, Albania has participated six times in the competition.

In 2019, Albania selected Isea Çili to represent Albania after winning Junior Fest, with the song “Mikja ime fëmijër”. During Isea’s participation, Albania managed to place 17th overall after receiving 36 points from the Jury and Online Vote.
