🇺🇦 53 submissions received so far for Vidbir 2022

After opening submissions for Vidbir 2022 earlier this month, UA:PBC provided an update on how the submissions are taking place. As the submissions period continues to take place, the broadcaster has now revealed that it has received 53 submissions so far.

Submissions from Junior Eurovision stars, The Voice and X-Factor contestants and more

During the reveal of the figure, UA:PBC has revealed that they have received applications from bands and solo performers who have participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, The Voice of Ukraine, X-Factor; as well as Tik-Tok Stars. In addition, it was also revealed that in addition to Ukraine, they also received applications from Hungary, Germany, and Armenia.

Interested artists who would like to compete, have until the 10th of January to submit their entries. The shortlisted artists and entries will be revealed, no later than the 24th of January.

Ukraine’s Eurovision Journey

Ukraine is one of the most successful countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has scored seven top-five placements, with an extra three top-ten finishes. Ukraine won the Contest in 2004 with Ruslana’s “Wild Dances” and again in 2016 with Jamala’s “1944”. Jamala’s win made history for Ukraine, as it became the first ex-Soviet country to win the contest more than once.

In 2021, Go_A represented Ukraine in the 65th edition of the Contest with their song “SHUM”. The band scored 364 points, finishing in fifth place.
