Jamala’s campaign
This is not the first time that Jamala has used her platform to advocate for help for the Ukraine effort. Immediately following the war, Jamala has consistently used her social media to spread awareness of what is happening in her country. After having to flee to Turkey with her children, Jamala has gone on a tour of Europe, promoting ways to help the Ukrainian people fighting Russian forces.
In a Eurovision context, Jamala performed at both the German and Romanian national selections. All proceeds raised from Jamala’s performances have been donated to Ukrainian charities. While no exact number has been given regarding Romania’s selection, Jamala stated that €67 million was raised during the final of ‘Germany 12 points!’ in early March.
