About Zdob şi Zdub & Frații Advahov
Zdob și Zdub are no strangers to Eurovision, having participated on two separate occasions. The band formed Moldova’s first ever participation in the Contest in 2005 with “Bunica bate doba”, earning a respectable 6th place. Following that, Zdob și Zdub made a return in 2011 with “So Lucky” – finishing in 12th place. For 2022, the group have teamed up with the Advahov Brothers, a fraternal duo playing the violin and accordion to couple with the band’s unique sound.
Moldova’s Eurovision Journey
Moldova is relatively new to the Eurovision Song Contest, joining in 2005. Their debut entry, Zdob și Zdub, finished in 6th place, which had remained their highest scoring entry up until 2017. This was thanks to the Sunstroke Project performing ‘Hey Mamma’, finishing in 3rd place. At the close of voting, Moldova received 374 points.
In 2021, Natalia Gordienko represented Moldova at the Contest in Rotterdam. Performing her song ‘Sugar’, Moldova qualified for the final and finished in 13th place. Following the jury and televote points, Natalia had received 115 points.
