🇲🇰 Lara Trpčeska and Irina Davidovska to represent North Macedonia at Junior Eurovision 2022

Junior Eurovision 2022 is fast approaching and countries are beginning to reveal which kid stars will take to the stage in Yerevan. North Macedonia’s national broadcaster MRT revealed that Lara Trpčeska and Irina Davidovska will represent the Balkan nation in December.

How Lara Trpčeska and Irina Davidovska were selected

Lara Trpčeska and Irina Davidovska were chosen after auditioning for the chance to represent the country at Junior Eurovision in late June. This was the first time in three years that MRT offered the opportunity to audition to represent North Macedonia at the competition. Singers between the ages of 9 and 14 could audition by singing two of their favourite songs for the broadcaster. The age range was set between 9 and 14 as per the rules of Junior Eurovision.

No extra information has been given on the two girls. However, the duo now have one month to prepare the final version of their song for Junior Eurovision 2022. Throughout this period, the two girls will have the chance to use resources provided by the North Macedonian broadcaster. Their song for Junior Eurovision will then be revealed in due course.

North Macedonia’s Junior Eurovision journey

North Macedonia debuted in Junior Eurovision in the first edition of the Contest in Copenhagen in 2003. Their first entry was “Ti ne me poznavaš”, performed by Marija and Viktorija. At the close of voting, the duo finished in 12th place, earning 19 points. Since then, North Macedonia have taken part in 16 editions of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The only years which did not feature a North Macedonian artist were in 2012, 2014 and 2020; the last due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, North Macedonia was represented by Dajte Muzika, singing their song “Green Forces”. At the close of voting in Paris, the group finished in 9th position, receiving 114 points. Of these, 59 points came from online voting whilst the remaining 55 were given by the professional juries.
