It’s not even September yet, and officially we now have the first artist for next year’s contest. After being confirmed for next year’s contest in July. After their announcement, Noa confirmed that her participation is a ‘maybe’ and has not yet been finalized. However, Noa Kirel and KAN have now officially confirmed that she will be representing Israel at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in the United Kingdom.
Kirel said that her selection was “a complete surprise”, but that she was excited for the “mission” to come.
“I’m already imagining myself on the Eurovision’s amazing stage. In a decision from my heart, I put everything on the side and I am heading into this with complete faith.”

She added that while she was concerned about some of the risks of representing her country on the Eurovision stage, that she was prepared for this as part of her career as a performer.
About Noa Kirel
Noa has been a big name in Israel’s music industries for a few years now. Her music career started by uploading an original song in 2015 on her YouTube channel. Following that she released several new songs. In 2016 she was titled the “Best Singer of the Year” award. But this award was just the beginning of her success. In the years 2017 and 2020 she won the MTV Europe Music Award. After having signed with an American company, in 2021 she made an international debut with her song “Please Don’t Suck”. Noa is also known for her work as an activist for gay rights, remembrance of the Holocaust, fight against COVID-19, and drawing attention to accidents of cyclists without helmets.
Israel’s Eurovision Journey
Israel has a long and wealthy history in the Eurovision Song Contest, making their debut in 1973 with Ilanit and โEy Shamโ. Their first entry scored 97 points, placing 4th. Israel has since gone on to win the Contest on four separate occasions โ in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018.
Michael Ben David represented Israel in Turin during the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “I.M.”. At the close of voting, Israel finished in 13th place, scoring 61 points and therefore, not qualifying for the final.
