Submissions to take part in San Marino’s national selection – Una Voce Per San Marino – are currently taking place. This time, the organisers have confirmed that it has recieved 402 submisisons so far.
Open auditions to commence later this month
RTV has confirmed that it has recieved submissions the most from Italy (334), Spain (16), Germany (8), Norway (5), while there were only 3 submissions from San Marinese citizens. In addition, the first round of casting will commence from the 28th October, with the first participants in the casting have been revealed.
Interested artists are being invited to apply for Una Voce Per San Marino from August 20th to January 20th, 2023. International artists that are interested must pay a minimum of €100 to participate in the show, whilst Sammarinese residents only need to pay €50, up to the New Year.
Last year, 66 emerging acts qualified for the semi-finals, alongside 9 established artists, including eventual winner Achille Lauro. However, no established artists will get an automatic qualification for the final selection. As a result, each artist that is selected by RTV San Marino will need to qualify from their respective semi-final before being eligible to win the right to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2023
San Marino’s Eurovision journey
As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 12 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.
Their recent participation saw them being represented by Italian superstar Achille Lauro, with the song “Stripper”. On May 12th, Achille performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed 14th in the semi-final, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
