More details have been revealed regarding San Marino’s national selection for Eurovision 2023. In this, Senhit – who represented the micronation in 2011, 2020 and 2021 – will host Una Voce Per San Marino 2023, alongside co-host Jonathan Kashanian.

How good is Senhit at hosting?

Senhit has previous experience of hosting shows. In last year’s national selection, the artist took to the stage as a host alongside Kashanian in the final. Additionally, Senhit submitted a formal application to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin; however, she was not revealed as one of the hosts.

Other details of Una Voce Per San Marino 2023 revealed

As well as the revelation of the hosts for the selection, RTV San Marino gave more details regarding the structure of the show.

At a press conference in Rome, it was confirmed that no so-called ‘Big Artists’ will pre-qualify for the final, meaning the winner must make it through the semi-finals of the show. Already, over 500 submissions have been made to the broadcaster, up from the last number of 402. Of these, over half came from neighbouring Italy; however, submissions were received from 32 countries, including Russia and Ukraine.

As well as this, Achille Lauro, who represented San Marino in Turin in 2022, will return as a guest during the show.

Auditions are due to be held soon. This stage of the selection is set to take place at the Little Tony Auditorium in due course.

San Marino’s Eurovision journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song โ€œCompliceโ€. Since then they have participated in the competition 12 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and โ€œSay Na Na Naโ€.

Their recent participation saw them being represented by Italian superstar Achille Lauro, with the song โ€œStripperโ€. On May 12th, Achille performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed 14th in the semi-final, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
