🇸🇪 Marcus & Martinus to participate at Melodifestivalen 2023?

With less than 24 hours to go until the tickets to go on sale for Melodifestivalen 2023 go on sale, the rumours as to who will be participating in next year’s competition continue to swirl around, as Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports that Norwegian duo and brothers Marcus & Martinus being the next act rumoured to take part.

Fresh from their Masked Singer Sverige win

The duo have always had a loyal Swedish fanbase thorughout their career, with their three studio albums charting in the Swedish Album Charts. Recently, the duo have had big exposure in Swedish television, as they participated in the second season of Masked Singer Sverige where they participated as “Spelmannen”

After their participation, the duo have released a few singles, “When All The Lights Go Out”, “Wicked Game” and “Gimme Your Love” with MEDUN. In addition, they also appeared in Allsång på Skansen in the Summer, where they performed a few of their hits.

Melodirestivalen 2023 will be hosted by Farah Abadi & Jesper Rönndahl, with the shows for next year’s comeptition taking place as follows:

  • Heat 1 – February 4 –  Gothenburg – Scandinavium
  • Heat 2 – February 11 – Linköping – Saab Arena
  • Heat 3 – February 18 – Lidköping – Sparbanken Arena
  • Heat 4 – February 25 – Malmö – Malmö Arena
  • Second Chance – March 4 – Örnsköldsvik – Hägglunds Arena
  • Final – March 11 – Stockholm – Friends Arena

Tickets for the Melodifestivalen 2023 shows will be released on November 1, 2022

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
