As Cyprus continues its preparations for Eurovision 2023, singer Andrew Lambrou has signed a record deal with label Panik Records.

Panik Records – the team behind ‘Fuego’

Andrew Lambrou signed his deal with the record label shortly after it was announced he would represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2023. Lambrou has already been working on his entry to the Contest in Liverpool. Previously, Lambrou announced he was recording the song at a studio in Stockholm.

Panik Records has been involved with Eurovision for several years, with the most successful result coming in 2018. Eleni Foureira, who is signed to the label since 2015, finished in second place in Lisbon with the track “Fuego”. Since then, the label has seen varied results ranging from the top 10 to a failure to qualify. As well as this, the label will also be in charge of preparing a national selection for the island nation in 2024.

Cyprus’ Eurovision journey

The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song โ€œMonikaโ€ and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 38 times (31 of which where they were in the Grand Final).

In 2022, CyBC internally selected Andromache to represent them in Turin with the song โ€œElaโ€. During their participation in Turin, Andromache failed to qualify for the Grand Final, and managed to place 12th in the Semi-Final, receiving 63 points from the jury and televoters.
