After being revealed as Cyprus’ Eurovision 2023 representative, work is already on the way for Andre Lambrou’s participation in next year’s competition in Liverpool, as he heads over to Stockholm in Sweden to record his entry.
“Liverpool, we are ready”
In a post in its Eurovision social media account, CyBC revealed that Jimmy Jansson, Thomas Stengaard are just some of the people that are working on Andrew’s entry for Liverpool.
Both Jimmy Jansson and Thomas Stengaard have extensive songwriting credentials in numerous Eurovision National Finals.
Jimmy Jansson has written 34 entries for numerous national finals, 27 of which were for Melodifestivalen, with “YES” by Ben & Tan for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix one of the entries that won its national selection.
Whilst, Thomas Stengaard has co-written six Eurovision entries, with “Only Teardrops” (2013), “You Let Me Walk Alone” (2018), “El Diablo” (2021) among the entries Thomas has co-written.
Cyprus’ Eurovision journey
The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song “Monika” and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 38 times (31 of which where they were in the Grand Final).
In 2022, CyBC internally selected Andromache to represent them in Turin with the song “Ela”. During their participation in Turin, Andromache failed to qualify for the Grand Final, and managed to place 12th in the Semi-Final, receiving 63 points from the Jury and Televoters.
