๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช The Voice Georgia to begin on December 8th

Georgia’s public broadcaster has announced the start date for The Voice Georgia. The show, which is being used to select the artist for Liverpool 2023, will begin on December 8th at 10:00 p.m. GET.

What we know about The Voice Georgia so far

As Georgia continues its preparations for Junior Eurovision in a couple of weeks, more details regarding The Voice Georgia are being revealed. GPB announced in August that The Voice would be used as the selection method for this year’s competition. This is the first time Georgia has used the Voice as a method of selection its artist for the Contest. It came after Georgia suffered another non-qualification in Turin with Circus Mircus’ “Lock Me In”.

GPB confirmed that The Voice Georgia will run over the course of ten weeks. As a result, the final of the competition is expected to take place around mid-February.

In addition to this, artists with Eurovision experience will be at the helm. Sopho Toroshelidze and Stephane Mgbershvili are coaches in this year’s season. Sopho was the lead singer for Eldrine, who represented Georgia in 2011, giving the country its joint best result. Stephane formed part of Stephane & 3G, who were due to represent the nation at Eurovision 2009. However, after refusing to rewrite their song “We Don’t Wanna Put In”, the band were disqualified from participating.

Georgia’s Eurovision journey

Georgiaโ€™s history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements โ€“ both coming in 9th โ€“ were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing “Shine” and Eldrine with “One More Day”.

Georgia has not qualified for the final since 2016, where they were represented by Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz with Midnight Gold. They were represented in 2022 with Circus Mircus, with their song “Lock Me In”. At the close of voting, however, Georgia finished last – 18th – in the semi-final.
