More than a month after the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest took place, things kick-off for the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Recently the final of Ranina 2022 took place, where Mariam Bigvava emerged victorious and will represent Georgia at Yerevan in December. The song that Mariam will sing in this year’s competition will be revealed in due course.
Who is due to participate in the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
At the time of writing, 10 countries have confirmed that they will be participating, and how they will be selecting their representative for this year’s contest.

- Ireland
- Netherlands
- North Macedonia
- Poland
- Portugal
- Spain
In addition to the above, Khabar Agency has confirmed its intention to participate. Whether this will come to fruition will be based on whether they will be invited by the EBU.
What we know about the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Shortly after winning the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU and ARMTV have revealed that Armenia will be hosting the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Since then, it was revealed in April 2022, that “Yerevan” will be hosting the 20th edition of the competition, which will take place on December 11, 2022, at the Karen Demirchyan Complex, which can accommodate up to 8,000 spectators. This will be the second time the venue will host the competition, with the first being in 2011.
Georgia’s Junior Eurovision Journey
In 2007, Georgia made its debut in the competition with Mariam Romelashvili, and the song “Odelia Ranuni” (แแแแแแ แ แแแฃแแ). Since their debut, Georgia has participated in Junior Eurovision 15 times, and has won the competition 3 times (2008, 2011, and 2016).
Georgia’s recent participation saw them being represented by Niko Kajaia who represented them with the song “Let’s Count The Smiles” which managed to place 4th overall, after receiving 163 points from the juries, and the online voters combined.
