During the final of Sanremo Giovani, the name of the entries of the established artists competing at Sanremo 2023 were revealed.

The establised artists will be joined by gIANMARIA, Will, Olly, Colla Zio, Shari and Sethu who adanced from Sanremo Giovani, with their entries for the festival to be revealed in due course.

What else do we know about Sanremo 2023?

Sanremo 2023 will take place between the 7th and 11th February 2023, hosted by Amadeus for a fourth consecutive year. It was further confirmed that 25 artists would compete: 22 established artists and three artists from the Sanremo Giovani competition, merging the traditional ‘Big Artists’ and ‘Newcomers’ sections, as was the case for Sanremo 2022. Amadeus today announced the potential for an expansion of this number: between three and six Sanremo Giovani contestants will be selected to compete in Sanremo 2023.

The original song titles for Sanremo 2023 will be revealed on Friday, 16th December, when we also find out which Sanremo Giovani 2022 artists will progress to Sanremo 2023. The covers night for Sanremo 2023 will take place on Friday, 10th February, with the requirement that all covers must have been released between 1st January 1960 and 31st December 1999.

Italy’s Eurovision Journey

Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since the very beginning and has always been considered a powerhouse in the contest. Italy has won the contest on three occasions: in 1964, 1990 and 2021. After 1997, Italy withdrew for a while, returning again in 2011 with Raphael Gualazzi, who sang ‘Madness Of Love.’ Raphael placed second in the 2011 Eurovison Song Contest, scoring 189 points.

Italy’s most recent entry in 2022 was ‘Brividi’ by Mahmood and Blanco, performed on home soil after rock band Måneskin won the previous contest in 2021. At the close of voting, Italy scoring 268 points in the Eurovision 2022 Grand Final, placing sixth.
