Latvia is starting their preparations for Supernova 2023. As artists prep for national final to start on Saturday 4th February, Tim speaks to RAUM, who are vying to represent Latvia in Liverpool with their song “Fake Love”.

Together, RAUM and Tim talk about the meaning behind their song “Fake Love.”, its creative process, as well as talking about their Eurovision memories from Latvia, and the emotions leading up to their 2nd participation in the Latvian selection.
About RAUM
RAUM is a musician and songwriter who came into prominence in 2021 and 2022, where his songs “Laimīgāks” and “Jumts brauc” were heavily rotates in Latvian radio station, and was the first Latvian artists to be signed to Warner Music Baltics. Before undertaking his solo work, he was one of the members of the band “Double Faced Eels” for several years. RAUM is no stranger to Supernova, as he participated in 2022 where he managed to make the final.
Latvia’s Eurovision Journey
Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015. Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Citi Zeni, who performed “Eat Your Salad”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 14th with 55 points.
