Ahead of fourth heat of Melodifestivalen 2023 this weekend, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Emil Henrohn for an interview. He will be competing in this year at Melodifestivalen with his entry “Mera Mera Mera”.

Together, Emil and Tim talk about his excitement to be taking part in Melodifestivalen this year. They also discuss Emil’s love for alone time, his inspiration from Loreen to be involved the Contest and his secret love for WRS, who represented Romania at Eurovision 2022 with “Llámame”.

About Emil Henrohn
Emil Henrohn is a 25-year-old singer from Sweden. Born in Söraby, in the south of the country, Emil first got his break into music at the age of fifteen. In 2012, Emil formed part of A*Base, a tribute band to Ace of Base. As an adult, Emil found fame after appearing in a Tiktok sketch – “Jag er mamma” – in 2022. This catapulted his popularity in Sweden, leading to the Swedish Media Academy naming him the most powerful person on Tiktok. He also appears in musical theatre, and is set to perform in the musical Hair later in 2023. His entry to Melodifestivalen – “Mera Mera Mera” – is written by Emil himself, alongside Jakob Redtzer, Ji Nilsson and Marlene Strand.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
