Ahead of fourth heat of Melodifestivalen 2023 this weekend, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Smash Into Pieces for an interview. They will be competing in this year at Melodifestivalen with their entry “Six Feet Under”.

Together, Smash Into Pieces and Tim discuss the band’s desire to take part in Melodifestivalen. They also speak about the difference between performing on tour and competing in the festival. As well as this, the band reflects on their career highlights, including playing with Evanescence on their most recent tour.
About Smash Into Pieces
Smash Into Pieces is a four-piece experimental alternative rock band from Örebro, central Sweden. The band is made up of Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye, Benjamin Jennebo, The Apocalypse DJ and Per Bergquist. The history of the band began in 2008, following a jam session. In 2013, the band were signed to Sony Music and released their debut album “Unbreakable”. The album reached #3 in the Swedish Rock charts. Since then, the band has gone on to release six more albums, each to critical acclaim. Their effort for Melodifestivalen – “Six Feet Under” – was written by the band themselves. However, it was also written by Andreas “Giri” Lindbergh, Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Joy Deb and Linnea Deb.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
