Ahead of the final of Melodifestivalen this weekend, Max gets the chance to sit down with Paul Rey for an interview. He is competing in Melodifestivalen with her song “One Day”.

During the interview Paul and Max spoke about whether there will be changes to the performance from the heat. Paul also spoke about how it felt to go directly to the final for the first time.

About Paul Rey

Paul Rey aka Pauli Jokela is a 30 year old Swedish singer from Lund. Paul started off his career as a rapper, and made his debut into pop music in 2015. Paul has competed in Melodifestivalen several times as a performer and a song-writer. Paul’s most successful entry to date is “Talking In My Sleep” which placed 6th. This is the first time Paul has gone directly to the final. “Royals” was written by Dino Medanhodzic, Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Liam Cacatian Thomassen as well as input from Paul himself

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
