It’s an elemental staging for Andrew Lambrou, who performs with LEDs showing waterfalls transitioning to fire. He appears on stage solo, wearing a nicely-tailored black outfit. The liveblog has focused on his vocal performance, which is described as “sublime”, with drums which are vibrating through the arena floor. Cyprus also bringing the IRL fire in this one, with floor smoke and four jets of flame!

Who is Andrew Lambrou?

Andrew is an Australian singer-songwriter with Greek-Cypriot heritage. He has performed since an early age and began his career on social media, uploading covers as early as 2013 to YouTube, Instagram, and (more recently) TikTok.

Andrew’s first big break came in 2015 when he appeared on the Australian version of The X Factor where he reached the super home visits stage of the competition before being eliminated.

Most recently, Andrew participated in the 2022 edition of Australia’s Eurovision selection show Eurovision – Australia Decides with his song “Electrify”. He placed 10th with the professional jury and 5th with the public to place 7th overall with 51 points.

“Break a Broken Heart” was written by Jimmy Jansson, Jimmy “Joker” Thornfeldt, Marcus Winther-John, and Thomas Stengaard.

Cyprus’ Eurovision Journey

The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song “Monika” and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 38 times (31 of which where they were in the Grand Final).

In 2022, CyBC internally selected Andromache to represent them in Turin with the song “Ela”. During their participation in Turin, Andromache failed to qualify for the Grand Final, and managed to place 12th in the Semi-Final, receiving 63 points from the Jury and Televoters.
