🇮🇸 Iceland will not participate at Junior Eurovision 2023

As the days pass by since the conclusion of Eurovision 2023, we look into Junior Eurovision 2023, which will take place in ‘Nice’ in less than months time. However, some countries have revealed they unfortunately will not be joining the party, with Iceland being the next country to reveal this.

Not debuting but alrways reconsidering

Speaking to ESCPlus Rúnar Freyr Gíslason has mentioned that they will not be participating, but RÚV are always reconsidering.

Unfortunately we won’t be participating this year, but of course we are always reconsidering.

Iceland is among the countries that have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, but is yet to debut at Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Other countries in the same situation include Andorra, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Luxembourg, Monaco, Morocco, Slovakia, and Turkey.

Despite its non-participation at Junior Eurovision in 2021, RÚV aired the competition, which took place in Nice, where it saw 96% of the population watching the event, despite not taking part.

About Junior Eurovision 2023

Junior Eurovision 2023 landed in ‘Nice’ after France won the competition for a second time in Yerevan, where its 2022 representative Lissandro won the competition with “Oh Maman”. This year’s competition will take place on the 26th of November at 16:00CET in Nice, at the Palais Nikaïa in Nice, which can accomodate up to 9,000 spectators.
