๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡พ Cyprus to internally select Eurovision 2024 representative?

Why fix what’s not broken? Well in the saga of Cyprus’ Eurovision 2024 selection, it is now being reported that the country will now select its representative for Malmรถ, internally.

Artist announcement to come “very soon”

Earlier we reported that Cyprus might be holding a National Final, in order to select its Eurovision 2024 representative. Now, it has been reported by Eurovision Fun, that the country will now once again revert to its usual selection method of internally selecting its representative & entry, with the selected artist being revealed in a matter of days.

In terms of internal selection, CyBC has been using the internal selection method predominantly over the past ten years (with the exception of 2015). With the internal selection, Cyprus has only failed to reach the Grand Final twice (2013 & 2022), and has even achieved its best result ever in 2018 with Eleni Foureira with “Fuego”

Cyprus’ Eurovision journey

The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song โ€œMonikaโ€ and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 39 times (32 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final).

In 2023, CyBC internally selected Andrew Lambrou to represent them in Liverpool with the song โ€œBreak A Broken Heartโ€. During their participation in Liverpool, Andrew qualified for the final, before going on to finish in 12th place with a total of 126 points. The juries gave Cyprus 68 points, whilst the televote awarded Andrew 58 points.
