As the Eurovision 2024 season kicks into full swing, more and more countries confirm their participation. Another country that has done so is Greece.
Greece’s Eurovision 2024 selection method yet to be confirmed
ERT’s participation in Eurovision 2024 was reported by EurovisionFun, where it was reported that the broadcaster sent the relevant documents to the EBU, ahead of today’s initial deadline for broadcasters to confirm their interest to compete. Broadcasters will have until the 13th of October to withdraw without any financial penalty.
At the time of writing, ERT is yet to confirm how they will be selecting their representative for Malmö. We previously reported that the broadcaster is potentially looking to hold a National Final in order to select their representative for next year.
Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 43 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have one once in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Victor Vernicos with the song “What They Say”. Following his performance, Greece failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final in Liverpool. He earned a total of 14 points from the televote.
