🇸🇪 Kim Cesarion, MEDINA, and Maria Sur to participate at Melodifestivalen 2024?

The rumours on who will be among the final 30 competing at Melodifestivalen 2024 continue to be reported on by local media. This time, previous Mello participants MEDINA and Maria Sur and newcomer Kim Cesarion are the latest names to be attached to next year’s competition.

Kim Cesarion

The first artist in this round-up is Kim Cesarion, a critically acclaimed singer and have released numerous singles in Sweden, including a collaboration with Mello participant Molly Hamar. Aftonbladet reports that Kim will be compering with an entry written by Albin and Matte.


The next artist in this line-up is anothe returnee in the form of MEDINA, who competed in 2012 with “In I Dimman”, which placed 3rd. Aftonbladet reports that they have been given a plcve in next year’s competition.

Maria Sur

The final artist in this round-up is Maria Sur, who has just recently released their Christmas single “Santa, Can’t Your Hear Me”. Maria made their debut in Melodifestivalen earlier this year with “Never Give Up” and has placed 9th overall in the competition. Aftonbladet reports that Maria was surprised at their record company where they celebrated their participation.

What we know about Melodifestivalen 2024

At the time of writing, the dates of next year’s competition has been revealed, and are as follows:

  • Heat 1 – February 3 –  Malmö – Malmö Arena
  • Heat 2 – February 10 – Gothenburg – Scandinavium
  • Heat 3 – February 17 – Växjö – Vida Arena
  • Heat 4 – February 24 – Eskilstuna – Stiga Sports Arena
  • Heat 5 – March 2 – Karlstad – Löfbergs Arena
  • Final – March 9 – Stockholm – Friends Arena

Tickets for Melodifestivalen 2024 will go on sale on November 6.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).

In 2023, Loreen returned to represent Sweden, who won the 2012 edition of the competition. She competed with the song “Tattoo”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final, and placed 1st with 583 points. Loreen won the jury vote, accruing 340 points from the jury, earning an additional 243 points from the televote. This now means Sweden matches Ireland for the record of most wins in Eurovision history.
