Over at That Eurovision Site the team will be ranking national finals throughout the season. The next national final that the team have taken a closer look at was Moldova’s Etapa Națională 2024 which will take place on February 17th. Etapa Națională 2024 will select the Eurovision representative for Moldova.
Who is taking part in Etapa Națională 2024 ?
There are eleven artists taking part in the final of Etapa Națională 2024 . The eleven artists taking part are as follows:

Who are our favourites from the final of Etapa Națională 2024?
We ranked the songs taking part in the final of Etapa Națională, using a 1-11 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 11 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings. Right below, you can see the top three for this week’s show.
3rd. OL – “No Time, No Space” (3.25)
2nd. Catălină Solomac – “Fever” (2.75):
1st. Valeria Pasha – “Anti-Princess” (2.75)
There is a tie-breaker for first place as “Anti-Princess” received more first place rankings than “Fever” then “Anti-Princess” is our winner for this selection.
What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from the Etapa Națională 2024 Final?
Kittens (“Anti-Princess): With a big bass kick, and a catchy nanana bit and twerking opportunities? I kinda forgot how much fun this is! It’s definitely something I could see on the Eurovision stage and seeing the whole crowd singing and dancing along to. It’s just a good time, even if the rap bit is a bit cringe, but still catchy as all hell!
Daniel (“No Space No Time”): Unlike in recent years I don’t think there is a big standout song in Etapa Nationala, I do think it is a weak selection, but No Time No Space for me is clearly the strongest song in the selection, OL has some of the stronger vocals in the contest and has a decent song on top of it
Rory (Catălină’s “Fever”): For the tender age of 16, Catalina’s vocals are astounding as she really goes at it in this song. “Fever” is one of the most optimistic and energetic songs in this year’s selection and it would definitely be a real fire-cracker if it made it to the Eurovision stage. Some things such as her diction will need to be worked on, but it can carry on the tradition of Moldova bringing genuine songs, even if it is a big banger!
Moldova’s Eurovision Journey
Moldova is relatively new to the Eurovision Song Contest, joining in 2005. Their debut entry, Zdob și Zdub, finished in 6th place, which had remained their highest scoring entry up until 2017. This was thanks to the Sunstroke Project performing ‘Hey Mamma’, finishing in 3rd place. At the close of voting, Moldova received 374 points.
In 2023, Pasha came back to the Eurovision stage to represent Moldova at the Contest in Liverpool. Performing his song “Soarele și luna”, Moldova qualified for the final, finishing in 5th place. Following the jury and televote points in the final, Moldova received 96 points, finishing in 18th place. Of the 96 points, 20 were given by the jury, while the remaining 76 is given by the televote.
