Last night, Swiss broadcaster SRF revealed that we will not have to wait long to find out who will represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2024. They will reveal their representative on Thursday the 29th of February.
Switzerland at Eurovision 2024
Switzerland officially confirmed their participation at Eurovision 2024 in July. A month later, it was confirmed to be an internal selection. The clip from “Late Night Switzerland” implied that this will only be an artist reveal, with the song release at a later date.
The Swiss head of delegation Yves Schifferle revealed additional information on his Instagram stories. He first confirmed that the reveal would take place at 11 am CET on Thursday and that the song would not be a ballad. Schifferle had previously stated that the song would not be a male ballad. Additionally, Schifferle revealed that the artist, song and music video will be revealed in one go on the official Eurovision YouTube channel.
Switzerland’s Eurovision History
Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia’s “Refrain”. Since then, they have participated on 62 occasions, making the Grand Final 51 times.
Switzerland’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Remo Forrer with his song “Watergun”. Performing in the first semi-final, he qualified for the Grand Final for a fourth consecutive participation. In the final, Switzerland finished 20th, after receiving 92 points. Of these, 61 came from the jury and 31 points came from the televote.
