As we continue to find out the songs that will be competing in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next Eurovision 2024 entry we will be reacting to is Malta, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Loop” by Sarah Bonnici.
Our thoughts on “Loop”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his video reaction to “Loop”
What did the other members of the team think of “Loop”?
Shiloh: Of course they got me in to comment on Malta… no, but seriously, I do actually enjoy this. Sarah has got good enough charisma live, and sings pretty well considering how hard she goes when dancing. As for the song itself, I think it’s catchy! It’s one of the better girlboss bops we’ve got this year. I think the instrumental is powerful, and it plays well with Sarah’s vocal style. Somehow, it sounds like a song that would have gotten decent radio play in the States several years ago.
Jazzi : This is a really good effort from Malta. They often don’t get the results they deserve in the contest. However I think this is their best shot at the final since Destiny for sure. The performance is slick and the chorus does get stuck in your head. Sarah is also an engaging performer so hopefully Televoters do pick up the phone and vote for her.

Malta’s Eurovision Journey
Malta made its Eurovision debut in 1971, with Joe Grech performing “Marija I-Maltija” (Maria the Maltese Lass), finishing 18th with 52 points. Malta did not participate in Eurovision from 1975 until 1991. That year they returned with the song “Could It Be” by Paul Giordimaina and Georgina, finishing 12th with 32 points. Since then, Malta has been at every Eurovision and finished in the top 10 an impressive 12 times. Their best result so far is second place, which they’ve achieved twice. The first time was in 2002, when Ira Losco sang “7th Wonder,” and the second time in 2005 with Chiara’s “Angel.”
Malta’s most recent Eurovision entry was The Busker, singing his song “Dance (Our Own Party)”. Performing during the first semi-final in Liverpool, the band scored 3 points from the televote, earning 15th place and therefore, not qualifying for the final.
