As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next Eurovision 2024 entry we will be reacting to is Norway, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Ulveham” by Gåte.
Our thoughts on “Ulveham”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Ulveham”
What did the other members of the team think of “Ulveham”?
Daniel: It’s great to have Norwegian back at Eurovision. I needed to see the live MGP performance for Ulveham to truly click for me, and once I saw it, I had no idea how I didn’t see it before. A well crafted and entrancing stage show for an epic song. I’m also sucker for cultural elements and if anyone can do them well, it’s Gåte.
Georgia: I think for me this is the song so far this selection season that I think could genuinely win the contest come May. Like Daniel, Ulveham didn’t really click for me until the live performances at MGP and damn, that live performance is just incredible. It’s very well-crafted and it does a great job at enticing the viewers in with the first verse and building it up to an epic last minute or so. I can see this doing really well in Malmö in May.
Angus: This is exactly what I and many others have been asking for from Norway for years now. Folk, metal, Norwegian language, it’s all here and it is magnificent! I have some minor production issues with the studio version of the track, but the way the track sounded at MGP was great. The staging was absolutely killer too. Folk-adjacent and rock-adjacent songs have been somewhat underrated by the Eurovision viewers in recent years in my opinion, but I still see this going to the final where it should get a strong result.

Norway’s Eurovision Journey
The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 61 times, and made the Grand Final 58 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times – in 1985, 1995, and 2009.
Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Alessandra with the song “Queen of Kings”. After qualifying for the final, Norway placed 5th in the Grand Final, receiving 268 points, 52 of which from the jury and 216 from televoters.
