While we are focused on Eurovision 2024, some major developments have occurred regarding this year’s Junior Eurovision 2024.

Host City

While France won the 2023 contest on home soil, French broadcaster France Tรฉlรฉvisions had the right of first refusal to host the 2024 contest. Consequently, the EBU has given hosting honours to Spain, who placed second in Nice with Sandra Valero’s “Loviu”. Initially, five cities submitted a bid to host this year’s Junior Eurovision: Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Malaga and Granada. However, since then, it has been confirmed that Zaragoza has withdrawn its bid due to the unavailability of a proposed venue.

Confirmed Countries

As of the time of writing, six countries have officially confirmed their participation at this year’s Junior Eurovision, with two more likely to participate as well. The six officially confirmed countries are France, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Ukraine. Additionally, Estonia and North Macedonia seem likely to participate once again in 2024, however, neither ERR nor MRT have officially confirmed their participation.
